IDC analysts predict that by 2023, there will be about half a billion applications. Currently, many of them are created in a few months, sometimes even days. To keep up with this pace, it is worth reaching for special tools, such as low-code platforms, which can shorten the time of their creation and implementation by up to four times.

In recent years, more and more companies have decided to take this step. So let's check out the forecasts for the low-code platform market in 2022.

Statistics according to Gartner

According to Gartner, in 2021, revenues from sales of this group of solutions amounted to USD 13.8 billion, and in 2025 it is expected to be USD 29 billion. The growth of this market segment is driven by disruptions caused by the pandemic, hyperautomation and new business strategies. It is worth adding that in 2020, every fifth application was developed using low-code platforms, but in four years this percentage will reach 70%. The current year will bring a further increase in the popularity of low-code platforms, and their users will begin to notice new benefits that the use of these tools brings.

From low-code to artificial intelligence

Low-code platforms allow non-technical users to achieve what was previously possible only with coding skills. In the long term, low-code platforms will develop towards streamlining and automating the application development process, where making many design decisions will be supported by artificial intelligence.

Low-code makes automation easier

In 2022, one of the most important trends in the business world will be automation. Technologies such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation), language processing or intelligent document processing will reduce the amount of human work involved in performing simple tasks. Low-code platforms will help in efficient and effective automation of business and production processes, making it easier for the organization to quickly and flexibly adapt to changes in the business environment.

Greater shortage of programmers

Creating and maintaining a digital business requires programmers and IT specialists. However, since the pandemic accelerated digital transformations and launched the creation of business strategies focused on digitalization, there is a shortage of developers. It is estimated that in Poland the deficit of employees on the IT market is 50,000 people, and every third company in Poland has trouble hiring programmers. Another disturbing phenomenon is shown by the results of the Antal survey conducted among IT managers. As many as 49 percent. respondents admit that they are having increasing problems with financing salaries. In such a situation, a reasonable solution would be to use low-code platforms that enable business and IT to collaborate on innovations and realization of ideas.
